A theoretical investigation of charge transfer in several substituted acridinium ions.
We present calculations for various properties of the ground and excited states of several arylamine-substituted acridinium ion systems that have been studied experimentally. Using ab initio and semiempirical quantum mechanical methods together with the generalized Mulliken-Hush (GMH) model, we examine the excitation energies, dipole moment shifts, and electronic coupling elements for the verti...

In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(14)H(12)NS(+)·CF(3)SO(3) (-), N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link cations and anions into ion pairs. Inversely oriented ion pairs form stacks through multidirectional π-π inter-actions among the acridine units. The crystal structure features a network of C-H⋯O inter-actions among stacks and also long-range electrostatic inter-actions among ions. In the pa...
متن کاملLong-lived qubit memory using atomic ions.
We demonstrate experimentally a robust quantum memory using a magnetic-field-independent hyperfine transition in 9Be+ atomic ion qubits at a magnetic field B approximately = 0.01194 T. We observe that the single physical qubit memory coherence time is greater than 10 s, an improvement of approximately 5 orders of magnitude from previous experiments with 9Be+. We also observe long coherence time...
متن کاملMediation of long range charge transfer by Kondo bound States.
We present a theory of nonequilibrium long range charge transfer between donor and acceptor centers in a model polymer mediated by magnetic exciton (Kondo) bound states. Our model produces electron tunneling lengths easily exceeding 10 A, as observed recently in DNA and organic charge transfer systems. This long ranged tunneling is effective for weak to intermediate donor-bridge coupling, and i...
متن کاملProton hyperpolarisation preserved in long-lived states.
The polarisation of abundant protons, rather than dilute nuclei with low gyromagnetic ratios, can be enhanced in less than 10 min using dissolution DNP and converted into a long-lived state delocalised over an ensemble of three coupled protons. The process is more straightforward than the hyperpolarisation of heteronuclei followed by magnetisation transfer to protons.
